Mid way through I remembered the first time i saw a deer as a child.

I live in a mid-size city next to mid-size forest, with a highway between the two...
I was 6 y/o or so.
Found it lying in a bush by a football field next to where i live. I've seen pictures in books, but had no idea deer were This beautiful. It was dusk and street lamps had just been turned on; they used to give a rich orange hue while they're warming up. Roe deer have a reddish-brown pelt in the summer, but the grass in front of it was literary glowing red. The deer was still alive, but breathing very heavily, crepitating. A streamlet of blood poured out of mouth and nose with every exhalation.
I stood there stupefied, staring.
The breathing soon stopped...
I stood there sobbing.

That might be another reason why I have a driver's license but noone and nothing can talk me into driving a car.
