This is Zodiac. It's not the name she puts on her taxes, but she doesn't pay taxes any more since the company got her that slick new accountant. With her similarly codenamed buddies Spotzkrieg, Hellstorm, Cyclone and Onslaught, her job is to end wars before they start. Giants are big, tough bastards, but modern weaponry has too big a bite for them to dominate the battlefield as they once did. Machine guns and rockets tear through inches-thick flesh and bring down the best and biggest.
Her branch of the consortium- a union of Vestibule CS, Nationale Systems, KSR Professional, Sherman-Naguchi, and Meccanica East- kits out giants with $40,000,000 suits of armor and sends them out to kick the ass of any military or militia group that can't afford strategic artillery and air power. Here she is modeling her light-armor gear and demonstrating how an otter handles enemy naval power. Poor submarine; otters are instinctively geared for finding hard-shelled objects in the ocean and bashing them until they open.

cylnx at Midwest Furfest 2012, after seeing how freaking amazing his pencilwork is. Zodiac isn't supposed to be that huge, just ninety to a hundred feet tall, but you can pretend it's a midget submarine; I just couldn't resist the "sub sandwich" line.

I have to say I definitely like the idea around, not everyday I see such an idea drawn around XD And the macro otter vs a sub actually is well thought too in my opinion, I wouldn't have thought that at first if I had been drawing such a type of character lol, add to the whole she looks pretty cute ;) She seems like a fun character to see in some drawings :3

Hey, that's what I try to do. If I get an idea I try to illustrate it.
The giant otter thing came after the armored-giant idea, but I thought about seamonsters pulling ships down to the depths and all, and otters are seagoing carnivorous predators- I can easily see one going after a boat!

And it's also rare we see an 'armored giant' too XD Let's say it's like the first one I ever see around to be honest XD Every other macros are just, like, not wearing much or just wearing normal clothes lol. It's cool seeing something that makes a change you know ;) And this drawing makes a change in tons of ways !

Wow how did I miss this picture. Pretty cool but is she really that big? Some submarines can be as long as 560 ft (170 m). And if I remember correctly Zodiac is below 100. Still powerful though. Could she really go up against a submarine especially if it could spot her from a great distance and fire torpedoes some of which could travel over 130 km/h or 80 mph?

This was actually just a picture I got based on the pun. I used it as inspiration for Zodiac's design when I wanted to make Spotzkrieg's first character (originally she was a stand-alone character, before Hazard Pay was written.) I just handwaved it as a midget sub. And likewise, while she can't really outswim a fast and agile torpedo, I imagine she normally doesn't run into craft with them. Water would make explosions far more effective against her, and her full 'war gear' includes some simple armor and a closed helmet system so people can't just stun her by tossing sticks of dynamite in the water like redneck fishermen.
