Crowded into the cargo compartment on the train that would take them into the heart of Brazil, Flora and her father take some time to get caught up and have a few laughs. They don't get to do this often but when they do it's the highlight of the trip.

Thanks, glad you like it. I wanted to show her interacting with her father since he was such a big part of her life and influenced her in such a significant way.
And he lost his arm in '73 as a combat photographer. He set off a trap and by the time they got him to a medevac gangrene had already started to set in.

She is though that isn't the reason why. When she was 8 her mother left them and he raised her on his own. He did the work of two parents and sacrificed a lot of his own wants for her needs. She appreciated it then but now as an adult she can't even begin to imagine what the whole thing must have been like for him.

He got the arm after his real one was amputated in Vietnam. He set off a trap and got speared in the bicep. Between tissue damage and gangrene from the trap he had to have a field amputation done while waiting for medevac pickup.
