Well it is designed to be a sabre, that being my blade style of choice. The balance of it would be a little different than the sabres you normally see decorating officers, though, because it's not a cavalry blade-- a blade designed to be used from horseback has the center of gravity farther down the blade because you are more often swinging downward. Not quite a cutlass either; it does have a point in addition to the edge, making it useful for thrust as well as slice. But yes, similar to those. :)
