Look around you. Many furries just enjoy anthro art...but as a whole, the fandom deserves nearly every ounce of judgment it gets. The majority of them certainly aren't trying to make it look like a dignified community.

Someone decided to pull that mess on me when they found out I'm a fursuit builder and told me I was disgusting.
I politely pointed out that, although I make the costumes, I am not a furry. I simply enjoy the aspect of the costumes and designs as well as the cute, hugable factor and smiles that my costumes get.
And also I make 5 times the money they do.

That's what a furry is. It's not a lifestyle, it's not a racial/ethnic profile, it's not a bunch of weirdoes who have sex in fursuits. It's a FANDOM- nothing more, nothing less.

I have the same problem... folk calling me sick for being part of this fandom.

The real question I have is I'm not sure I would know if I would classify myself as a furry in the first place. Is there some test I can use to figure this out?

Either way, someone needs to lighten up and accept you for who you are. Just because someone's part of any fandom, furry or otherwise, doesn't give them any right to hate on the person in question.

People are just too ignorant to know that Furry has a rich heritage stemming from as far back as ancient Australian pictographs, Egyptian religion and mythology.

Well as a fellow furry, I feel you. Though I have never gotten judged for the prior, I've been going through similar things at my college with being a Brony, but I just say "Yep, I'm a Brony." And then, if they actually ask why, I show them some fan stuff and such. It can get a little annoying at times with people judging without any basis, but I've pretty much decided that I am who I am and there's no point in trying to hide it. If you also respond calmly they usually don't pursue it much (typical troll ideology). Just take the high road, and then when you have free time turn the annoyance into funny art like this :D.

XD It's kindof like when I tell people I'm into Homestuck and they just tend to go all either 'what is that shit' or 'you read cartoons. Loser'. >: I would like to see them follow all these time skips.

No one knows I'm into the furry fandom. I have no one to relate to about this. So you have my sympathy.

Haters are gona hate and people will always judge what they dont understand hon. You stay true to yourself and your tallents. You are beautiful, tallented, and a wonderful woman with an awesome heart. I'm pretty secretive about it. I write stories, I like art. I have two good friends who know I'm a furry (one of which who really got me to step out of the shadows and enjoy the fandom); the only others who know are online friends. I love my friends to death, but i know they would give me s**t all the time for it if they knew. Sadly, people will always look at the negative aspects of the fandom, because it's just how people are.

Well I'd say it's fair play to judge someone else when they're being prejudicial.

being judgemental is presuming ones behavor as possitive or negative based on a lack of information. thus the statement the artist is making is not claiming anything outside of an obvious behavioral pattern based on the information at hand. "ignorant" is defined by lack of information not intellectual level. "moron" in its current context defines a person lacking in appropriate judgement skills. none of what they said was a judgement call. it was merely an observation of obvious behavior.

I Didn't discover furries sadly until i was in my early 20's i'm now 27 and been a solid furry fan for 7 years. even incorperated tem and yes you into a book i wrote. It was a agonizing 10 year process that took up alot of my time and effort. yet the unpublished version of that book remains hidden away to this very day. I still go over an edited copy. My parents can't read it properly and only certain people i know can actually read it without putting it down. So i know in the right hands its a masterpiece. Even with the incorporation of furries. Some like it some dont. Why? Dunno. But to this day i never second guessed myself on the Cast. Just the storyline. Because you broke up with Red, and i had to figure out something else. Right?

I wonder how old those people are.
