This is a woodlouse or sowbug of the family Oniscidea-- not a pillbug or roly-poly as a user above said. (Those are in the Armadillidiidae family.) You can tell the difference because when sowbugs roll up in defense, they don't form a solid, closed circle. They only curl up into a crescent shape, and you can still see all of their legs. In the Armadillids, you can't see their legs or head at all. Sowbugs also have at least one, but typically two sharp bends in their antennae, making them like a rough Z shape. They also have much more defined uropods than Armadillids of either gender.
Also! They are crustaceans, not insects like most people think... and they breathe through gills, not spiracles or lungs like other terrestrial critters. They're most closely related to shrimp or lobsters than they are to centipedes or spiders. :)
