brooding and luminous at the same time. The bamboo background gives the picture almost a daoist, mystic feel while the forward posture of the dark deer figure and the shadowy knoll seems rather forboding, even slightly menacing. Complex, unique picture - I realy like it.

This makes me think of that forest in Japan, I can't recall the name for the life of me at the moment...where many people over the years have committed suicide in the serene peace and quiet of the forest. Very sad story, the bamboo with the skeleton just reminded me of reading about it a long time ago. Beautiful and haunting picture, very well done.
I really love the "roof" of the leaves, it gives the image a feel of being trapped, as if the viewer is in a very enclosed area. I will stop here before this becomes a wall of text haha. TL;DR - Very nicely rendered and thought provoking image. :)
