I've painted this recently for myself - it shows my Brachypelma auratum "Nugget".
I know that tarantulas don't spin orb-webs, so this painting is not scientifically correct, it's just artistic freedom. I think the orb-web fits the shape of the canvas really well. I could have drawn a random orb-web spider on it, but I just wanted to draw one of my pet tarantulas on it to establish an emotional connection to this picture.
I've added some small three-dimensional objects to the web (thanks to Schiraki for contributing the key, because i did not have one that was small enough to fit in there) and made the silks shiny using a special nacre acrylic colour. The highlights in the background are made by spreading salt on the wet colour.
The canvas measures approximately 30 cm from the furthermost corners.
