It makes a big difference.
I mean, I used to stare in awe at some people's digital pictures. Unfortunately some artists are also tracing, which makes me quite cranky. But once you get the hang of using a tablet you can do a LOT with it. Pretty soon I will be able to ink my comic directly in photoshop. It will look so much cleaner! I'm really excited.
I have an extra one that I would be willing to give you, but I never know if my big one is going to flop over and die (it is quite old and very finicky) But they are pretty cheap on ebay. The pens are the expensive part, I think they're like thirty bucks. But you can get a 'gently used' actual tablet for like ten dollars. You just might want to make sure they still make new pens for the model if you are buying it for cheap without a pen, because, for example, my big tablet with a pen is like $300... without one, it costs $6! Simply because you can't get the pen anywhere. It's nuts.
