During the "birth" of the Cheirolantern's, a second set of bat like creatures came to exist, these shadow beings came to be known as simply "Batshade's"

Unlike their light producing "twins", the Batshades are actually harmless, their diet rather being literally light and light sources, making them "Lightvores" and their diet needs little to really sustain themselves.Also unlike the Cheirolantern's the Batshade's do not dwell within the caverns of the Scary Place, but actually roam about in Floralia forest itself.

Ironically, the Batshades were discovered first, by children of the hunters village. Not meaning harm, the children playing about with their candles at night to cast shadows soon were joined by the Batshades, showing their playful nature with other beings.

The batshades can interact with creatures as if they were not shadows themselves, for a time many thought they were in fact the shadows of bats not visible to ones naked eyes, but in truth it is reverse. The batshades when interacting with the shadows of other things can be felt, from their weight, the warmth of their forms and even the beating of their hearts. But for another creature to interact, they must use "shadow puppetry" to do so
