i have a tattoo of a head of baphomet within a pentagram that spans across my chest. as you may guess, this signifies my love for my dark lord and master. i got the tattoo because i wanted people to know i love the Dark Lord and am devout. i knew that people would treat me differently based on it. likewise, were i to get a tattoo of a biohazard symbol over my heart, i would recognize that people would be likely to guess that i am HIV-positive, and would treat me differently based on that. it's how it works. offended by people assuming you have an infectious, life-threatening disease? don't get a tattoo of a symbol literally signifying a hazard to your health.

I hate to break it to you, but in the gay community, a Bio-hazard Symbol is often used to distinguish people with HIV/Aids (Poz) from people without. You're sending a pretty clear message, even though it was not your intent.

People get tattoos for different reasons. I do not have AIDS, nor did I get it to signify that I do.

Then why WOULD you get a biohazard tattoo? that symbol is used to mark infectious waste. It's designed to tell people "stay away, this will make you sick". Any medical professional knows when they see that sign they need to put on gloves because there is the potential for infection. Why would you get that tattooed on you if you aren't an infection hazard? BTW we use bags on our ambulance with the same symbol on it... mostly for Vomit collection or blood soaked clothing.

Second, my reason for getting this tattoo is because I have a corrosive and infectious personality. I have it as a sign to remind myself and others to beware and not get too close to my heart.
