The original layout for this page was somewhat different. The larger building in the bottom left corner was originally a frame house. However, as Bea was walking downtown, I felt the scene should become increasingly urban rather than more residential. I redrew that corner.

NB: the bum rustling the bushes. You'll see him again later. I think the street sign at far right reads Macklin, which would be for early furry cartoonist Ken Macklin.
