I am SO done with the foam work of my sons' heads. Might I emphasize that I have NEVER done anything like these before. I am SO over my head here! AAAAGGGGHHHH!
The eyes on Rocky (rabbit) are temporary mock-ups, real things to be added after furring, while Buddy's (yellow lab) are built in wanna-be (my lame attempt at) follow me eyes. Pardon the pajamas. lol!

do you have advice? seriously. Cause I have never done anything like this before. total n00b.
I kinda figured that the 1/2 inch foam wouldn't be enough. So what you can't see is the "fun foam" sheets I have glued to the back for added support. Do you think that might be enough, or will I need something more? I was hoping to steer away from wire, as I would like them to have a "bouncy" quality to them for if he hops or dances. Seriously, I would LOVE advice. I am all ears. lol.

I'm her roomie! :)
Anyway, if you want to try for bouncy perhaps try using a layer of "headliner" on the back. It is basically what they use to line the roofs of cars - a thin layer of foam with fabric backing. You can easily pick it up from Han cocks or what have you.
I've also made ears out of 1" foam carved into a curved shape, made a dart about halfway up the ear in the foam, glued a quarter in the end for weight and furred them for a nice little bouncy slightly-flopped ear (I did that for one of this head's ears for example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8430701/).
If you need any other tips and stuff for things your hung up on, you can toss me a note - I've been making fursuit stuff since 2000 and might be able to give some pointers :)

I was told by someone you could use long springs in the ears to make them stand up,but also be wiggley. Like a slinky. I saw a pict of one. They were the old springs used for the OLD screen doors to keep them shut. I will try to find it. But make take a bit tho.
But you are doing a fantastic job.
