Very wise advice, I myself have this struggle from time to time still. But i just keep looking at my progress. I started it took me a week to draw something and now i can crank out a full color pic in a day at most. And i want to draw constantly and i look back on my work not with OMG I am awful but look forward saying wow i have grown so much and have gotten so good I must keep going and my work will keep improving. Also i think a lot of artist compare themselves to others, again I use to think wow I will never be as good as (insert artist here) but the more work i do the better I get and people who like said artist like my work as well so i know i am doing something right. I also think artist who have made it should on occasion give up and comers recognition, you have no idea what a confidence boost that can be for an artist. I know one of my greatest milestones was when one of my hero's liked an art piece I did and they liked it. It blew my mind and gave me a huge burst of confidence for me.
There's nothing wrong with your work not being great though.
I nitpick artists I think are great. Every time I look at their works, I see the flaws, and decide that I'll do it better. I dunno if that's mean or just my way of improving, but that's the way it is.
Work hard, become great.

When I first stumbled upon this quote a month or two back, it made me feel so much better as an artist. I can't describe what that something is that I want in my work - I see glimpses of the surface effect in some other artists' work, but it's only fractions of what I want my finish pieces to look like. Little pieces of what I want. So I hang onto those and try and incorporate all those pieces over the years into my work. Maybe one day I'll get there. Thanks for posting it and reminding me of it. :)
