Last, but by no means least... my signature character. Good old Rexy.
Considering the sheer number of times I've drawn Rexar over the years, there are few pictures of him from the front like this. But there is a reason - I'm terrible at drawing my characters from the front, given the symmetry issues and the unfamiliar facial shape.
It's a particular problem with Rexar, because he has always been one of my most stylistic characters. While I've gone for more realistic, anatomically accurate faces on many of my characters, I've always kept Rexar with pretty much the same semi-cartoony style as I always used to draw him with - largely because in my opinion, anything else is not Rexar. The trouble with that shape is that the way I draw it from different angles suggests that it isn't actually a possible 3D shape. Still, that's the bliss of fantasy, I guess.
Unfortunately that also makes him a bugger to draw from the front, because nothing looks right. I got as far as colouring one draft before deciding that the face looked absolutely freakish, so I went back to the paper and spent hours trying to draw it again. It never looked right on paper, and it wasn't until I started putting tone on it that it looked even remotely like I wanted it to. I'm still not that happy with it, but it's miles better than the first draft would've been...!
Something I've been seeking to clarify lately is that Rexar is not my fursona. Mike is. Plus, the names 'Rexar' and 'RipRoarRex' do not refer to the same thing. Rexar is my character, RipRoarRex is just my artistic alias. More about these points can be found on Rex's profile page (see above).
Oh, and I tried to tone down the classic 'cheek-teeth' look a bit on this one. Only a little bit though.
