I haven't drawn Carlos in a long time, primarily because the last image I did of him ("Smokin'", back in 2009) never came out right and pissed me off so much that it set off the art block that I suffered for most of the next year. I've somewhat gone off him as a result, and he was never my favourite character to begin with, but I still have ideas involving him that I am interested in exploring.
As I've said many times before, I know nothing about costume, so whether or not any aspect of the clothing is wrong here is beyond my knowledge. The way gunbelts are meant to be worn seems a bit confusing to me based on the photographs I've seen, and I don't know if any cowboys have ever worn shorts like this, but I didn't like the full-length trousers I'd given Carlos in his original 2008 profile and decided I wanted to see a bit more of his legs.
What I do know is this - in my experience, drawing upturned cowboy hats from this angle is one of the HARDEST THINGS IN THE WORLD. The number of times I must have redrawn it could probably have rivalled the infamous difficulty I had drawing the face in Tembe's profile image. I'm still not sure about it, but it's rather too late now!
