We had it before our refuel, thats when they took it out. They just now got done re-installing it...

Ugh, Carriers. I had to take a Greyhound to one buried under bags and bags of mail, then lifted with a few of them (and the CO's newspaper) to my old ship.

XD Carriers aren't THAT bad, just so long ans your big three aren't complete douchers... then again, I am sure it is the same with any command...

Grey, uh?. Looks like a Block 1B model, more compact barrel clamp and brace than the jerry-rigged 1As. I can't see the left side for the FLIR unit, so I can't confirm the 1B classification.

...And I was on a carrier group leaving for the Med when the old USS Iwo Jima got painted by an R2 from another ship following a drone, and let loose on the Iwo. One Chief, one sailor lost =(

Yeah, I think we were(*) with the USS Forest Fire, uh, USS Forestall (which actually one of her elevators caught on fire the day of deployment) Med carrier group when it came through the fleet comm.

I will always remember it has my Division Chief was standing next to me when the news came down, and he muttered a litany of expletives. The Navy may be a big "family", but there are groups within that care for their own (Chiefs, BTs, Gunners, ETs,...) =/

(*) I would need to check my Med Cruise books to see who we were pulling ASW duty for. Could have been the Iowa. No scratch that, we were near her when Turret Two went off, and that was before the Iwo incident.

I'm gonna seem really stupid here, but what is this real life BFG capable of, and what does CIWS stand for?

CIWS stands for Close In Weapons System. It can be used to engage a multitude of targets. Be they a jet-ski, missiles, or low flying planes. The CIWS that the US Navy uses is a modified M61 Vulcan cannon used in most of our aircraft. I think I can find a .pdf if you would like to know some more about them. :3

Also, it is never stupid of some one to want to know more on a subject. I am a firm believer in the saying that there is no stupid questions, just stupid people, and through knowledge we can fix that.
