Hyena Bear Species Guide
Hyena bears as a species vary greatly, but they all have the same basic anatomical structure that sets them apart from others. Their coats can be naturally colored or unnaturally colored as they are a species that was made out of love and to be loved whether they are brown and black or blue and green. They have both characteristics of grizzly bears as well as spotted hyenas. Although physically they share similarities of each species, they act neither like a bear nor a hyena. This temporary guide was made to help aid you in becoming more educated in the species and knowing where it's limits are as I now let other people have the opportunity to have these creatures I have grown to love so very much.
Hyena bears are omnivores. They can hunt or forage for their food.
Living Environments:
Hyena bears typically live in a variety of regions but never do they live in regions that accumulate snow and cold weather. These creatures live in warm, dry environments that normally have some sort of rainy season that comes with the area. They are more likely to be in an environments that have grasslands, plains, small forests, or small deserts of the like. Hyena bears are very much attracted to water, they do not shy away from playing in any form of it. Thus other animals can be sure that if they see a hyena bear, water is sure to be around to some extent.
Behavior and Social Structures:
Hyena bears are not very aggressive animals in general. Surprisingly they are very docile, especially with their own kind. Since they normally live where food, whatever type it may be, it plentiful their aggression is almost non existent. That is not to say that they are not EVER aggressive though. Males commonly fight to some extent for a female when choosing a mate but it is more of an intimidation battle more than a physical one.
These animals usually live alone but do not claim territories. It is not uncommon for a few hyena bears to be in a small familiar clan that gathers to hunt or forage for food. Normally when a female bears offspring she will find others she is familiar with and they will come together and temporarily form a small clan to aid in the survival of the young.
Hyena bears mate for life. The process of choosing a proper mate is long and tedious but once it is done, they stay partners for life. In the event their mate loses their life, the hyena bear will not mate with another for around 3-4 years or sometimes never. In this event they more than likely join a paired set of hyenas bears with permission and aid in the rearing of their offspring forming a small clan.
Clans are normally formed in times of hardship. Ranging from a paired set of hyena bears having offspring to the area having a drought. In times such as this, the clan is led by a matriarch, an older, larger female who is usually accompanied by their male mate if one is present.
Cubs stay with their mother until they are 2 years old and can either stick with their parents in a small clan or go off on their own.
Males Vs Females:
Males are larger than females but do not dominate over them. They aid in the protection of their mate or clan members or young. Males typically, when standing on their haunches, reach around 7 feet. While females reach around 6 feet. It is very uncommon for a hyena bear to exceed these measurements.
Females have general mammalian genitalia as do males. Both aid in the care of their young.
Males will attempt to appease a female they would like to claim as a partner with gifts of food or things they deem to have some form of value to the female. Once they are accepted they begin to pamper her more so with affectionate licks, nuzzles, and gentle forms of affection.
Females are very sociable with other hyena bears they are familiar with and if they are not raising their own young they will aid in the rearing of others. Males also do this as well and as do partnered hyena bears with no offspring. Though it is not uncommon for paired hyena bears to come together and form a small clan in order to raise young amongst themselves with another expecting set of hyena bears.
Females can have up to two offspring every season which are called cubs. Females typically do not bear offspring every season or in times of hardship their bodies will absorb their young if they are pregnant.
Hyena bears normally have overly large canines that show out form under their lips and males typically have larger ones than females but it is also not uncommon for them to not have visible canines. By no means are these to be associated with tusks as they do not get that overly large.
I Want A Hyena Bear!
Hyena bears are a closed species that I have created, but you can obtain one when I release designs of them to be sold or if I open customs for them.
But keep in mind that once purchased you must confirm with me any changes you do make of them, which I do not mind changes at all they just have to be made sure they do not obtain something they do not have anatomy wise like for example, horns.
You are more than welcome to humanize, gijinka your hyena bear once obtained and roleplay with them etc. I encourage that actually! Since they can turn into gijinkas they do not have a set life span but they can not exceed 100 years of age and if they do please keep it as human standards. Such as if they're 102 they will be very old and feeble and have to have others take care of them etc.
Hyena bears can only be hyena bears but you can draw them as anything else just for fun!
Hyena Bears are made by me and are a closed species.
Please check my journal section to obtain a hyena bear!
