Rex snarled and made her way towards the door. Her movements felt more fluid and graceful than before. Her clothing was still on her body, but badly tattered and covered in blotches of blood. Feeling the carpet underneath her, she sprinted out of her house like a bolt of lightning. Her legs felt like coiled up springs, ready to be released anytime she pleased.
Walking out into the cool morning air, Rex took a deep breath through her snout and growled. So many new scents flooded her mind. It was like an awakening. An awakening into a new life. Just over the horizon she could see the sun peaking over the tree tops. Narrowing her eyes, she took off towards the woods. Her mind was a loss for any rational thought. Her normal mind would have stopped her by now, if the transformation had not killed her. As she ran, things began to blur together, trees and bushes were a smudge in her eyes. Her breath was hot and heavy, her muscles generating tremendous amounts of heat. The adrenaline of the hunt started to fill her mind. Her instincts started to take hold, her conscious mind starting to surrender to her new primal side. The last thing she remembered before her mind blacked out was something fuzzy in her claws, and the warm blood from the kill in her mouth.
Rex sat at her favorite booth, her muzzle buried in a cup of hot tea. Her appearance might have changed, but her style never did. Even though her old human clothing did not fit properly, Rex had on the same ragged pants from this morning along with a black shirt. A chain with lock was around her neck, along with an assortment of wrist bands and rings. Her eyes darted around the almost empty bar. The patrons were there earlier, but as Rex walked in, most of them evacuated. Rex snickered to herself and continued to drink her tea, this time without the bitter aftertaste as before. Four people still occupied the bar, all of them with eyes locked onto Rex. She looked up from her drink and glared at the group, hissing slightly through her teeth. Immediately they turned their heads and paid her no more attention. Clicking her claws onto the hard floor of the pub, she swirled her half empty drink on the table and thought of her next move.
What was there that she could do? From what she can tell she has become some kind of hybrid human/raptor creature. How she became this way was a mystery to her but it was all the same. Her transformation didn't degrade her life; it was more of an Upgrade than a downgrade. But Rex was gonna have to learn to control her new instincts. It took her a full 5 minutes to restrain herself from attacking the group at the bar. It was almost as if something else inside her mind was pushing her to attack, like before. But before she could control herself, the scared little humans ran off. She could still smell their scents in the air. She snickered as she pinpointed the scent of a weak bladder.
Rex's concentration was broken by a sharp pain in her tail. Hissing, she pulled it back at under the table and glared at the source of the pain. When her eyes looked upon the man that stepped on her tail, her mind started to tick. The man, with a ghastly look on his face, took one step backwards and bumped into a chair, falling backwards into it. Rex let out a low hiss, and as she did, the pub grew quiet. Rex could start to smell the fear welling off of the man like a tidal wave of stench. Her heart started to pound again, her talons clicking on the hard tile floor. Narrowing her eyes, she snapped at the frightened man. He recoiled from her and fell backwards in his chair. Scrambling to his feet, he stood behind a table and mumbled.
"It's not possible. How are you alive?!" Robert bit his tongue and swallowed hard. Rex glared hard at the man and sneered.
