Yeah NERO, I'm a part of the NERO Boston chapter.

I believe the core Dragoncrest chapter is up there too.. but their rules and ours have diverged greatly over the years.

Live Action Role Play. Basically getting in costume and whacking each other with sticks.

ok, a bit more action than what i though.

There are some clubs here in europe that trie to rewive the life of the middle and dark age.
But they don't hit themselves so much..rather bad idea with real swords...even if they aren't sharp, 60lbs of metal can still get you a long hospitalride.

Well, there's a bit of a difference. You described a Renaissance Fair.. where people go for the atmosphere and to look medieval and act medieval.

This is much more like playing Dungeons and Dragons, just with no dice, and you're standing on the table, actually fighting, hence the padded sticks.

I sometimes want to be involved in a Live Action Role Play scene, but then I remember that I'm in the middle of nowhere and it'd be hard. Not to mention I'm already a huge enough dork, I <3 D&D, especially the computer games, I have most of them. Baldur's Gate 1+2 with expansion packs, Icewind dale 1+2 with heart of winter, Temple of elemental evil, Pool of Radiance ruins of myth drannor, Neverwinter Nights, and most importantly Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach (Me is a good Paladin, but I like rougeses too!)

considering my mate played a minotaur with a polearm made of PVC and half of a ceramic clay pigeon on the end, I think silliness is fun when it comes to larp:)
