In 2010 this character was done on another actor (at the time I was not at all into performing), and a good deal of the wardrobe (hat, shirt, pants, suspenders) were re-used for this current look. The super cool coat was a very recent Goodwill purchase, at $30 rather high but it so totally brought the look together! I am very pleased with the final costume and presentation.
For the future, I shall likely:
1)incorporate the ears and wig into a one-piece headpiece for easy donning and removal
2)make a lighter weight tail with a superior support structure (without the coat on, it looks a bit desparate in back)
3)make a thinner skinned glove set that doesn't rub against cloth so brusquely. Currently they are latex hands that catch on the inner pockets of the coat unless used very dexterously.

http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9158814/ has the best detail of the hands that I have. No super duper closeups, as I wanted to emphasize the overall look vs. bits and pieces, hence no glove or tail closeups for that matter.
Thrift shopping would be lovely! I've heavily curtailed that this year on account of having so much stuff to work with now. I only pick up items that really wow me, or that are very specific to certain character looks that I go for. Like the coat for example, I just had to get that!

I have a lab coat that I used for the Friday makeup panel at FF. Not that stylish, but good to keep makeup off my nice clothes! That said, I need to find a kickass white labcoat as well. I do have a terrific red one that DDax used back in early 2011! Perhaps Maxie has those pics...
