Actually, he was looking in the mirror during his entire TF. But he's not a pug (I hate them, they're snorting little dwarves) - he's a boxer! Boxers are cool - I like their jowly face, pointy ears and stubby tail. They're just the right size too, right in the middle, plus that squarish muzzle gives their face a very similar to human look.
Toller = short for Nova scotia duck tolling retriever = a breed of dog.
