Assuming there's an entropic minimum that causes him to resume normal shape on cooling, this is a really neat lava-lance.
He melts, mushes together so the coloured bits merge, and when it's off (or descending back to the lamp if not on for too long) he reforms. Add some THC to the water/oil and you've got a tripping trip machine.
