So I scrapped my first story because I lost track of my thoughts and the chapters weren't flowing together like I wanted. I started a new one and I think i started it out better then the first one anyways. Enjoy!

Book 1: The Calling
Prologue
_______________________________________________________________________
It’s been decades since the last war against our kind was waged. The elders pass their knowledge along to the younger generations in hopes to keep our kind alive and prevent us from making the same mistakes that were made so very long ago.
“Hey, I’m going to go out tonight, the council has called for everyone to gather, are you going to be okay?”
“I’m going to be fine dear. Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean I can’t take care of myself.”
“You sure…? I really don’t want to leave you by yourself…”
“Go! Before the council come to find you! You know they’re not a patient group!”
“You’re right dear. I’ll be home as soon as I can.”
Everyone in my father’s village had a special “quirk”; you could call it, about them. Some where able to take the form of beasts, some mages, others just refuges from past wars that had ravaged the land.
That night there had been a strange smell in the air. Something unfamiliar and very unnerving, people rushing back and forth gathering material and precious things for they knew something was coming, just not exactly sure what it was or how they should prepare for it.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN!? WE CAN’T JUST PACK OUR FAMILIES AND POSSESIONS UP AND MOVE!”
“You’re right. We don’t have time to pack, we have to move. The humans have closed in, and we’re very close to being found. We have to move now or all will be lost!”
“WE CAN’T MOVE THAT FAST! Even if we could, we’ve got too many memories built into our homes and lives!”
The shouts and screaming was coming from the grand council chambers. Something has made the council very nervous. “Humans” they called them. “Humans” to everyone was the term we used for people who could not do the same things we could. We came to call ourselves the outcasts, or the “humans” who would never fit in to a “normal” society.
“We are aware of the memories that we’ve all built into our lives here, we’ve come to the decision it would be best for the memories be good memories, and not those of lost loved ones and war! Humans and Outcasts never got along, so we need to move everyone now or we will be found and war will be spread across the lands again!”
“Why can’t we stick up for ourselves and fight? My wife is pregnant and it won’t be long before she has our pups! We’ve been running from the humans for ten generations now, and we’ve grown to be a large number of us! I think we need to finally stand up for ourselves and fight back for once!” my father was passionate about standing up for his family. My father and mother joined in marriage nine months prior so no one really could blame him for wanting to protect her.
“All things considered, we’ll have to take the chance of moving her or else we will have to lose her…”
“I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS! You guys can leave! I’m staying with my wife! I will protect this village! Even if it costs my life..!”
“Don’t worry friend. You’ll have more then just one set of hands to help protect this village. I’m staying as well.”
“The grand council has spoken. If you so choose to stay behind. Then your death is certain. Is this what you gentlemen insist on?”
“We do.”
“Then so be it. We will leave enough supplies for your crew to defend the village the best that you can with the numbers you have. After that, the ones who have chosen not to stay will be escorted out by the grand council, and we will be leading everyone to the nearest safe heaven for us. We wish you gentlemen luck in your endeavor, but we will not be coming back for you. We’re sorry. There is just too much at stake. This concludes our gathering. We will be leaving tonight.”
As everyone was getting up, a series of screams and shouts erupted from all around. Something was happening outside the grand council chambers, sounds of metal against metal and the grating of iron against wood. The war had begun faster then the grand council had predicted.
“They’ve come into our village! RUN EVERYONE!”
