Nobumi is Kirimaru's new name.
It is written in Japanese "寅男"。First character means Chinese zodiac tiger, while the second means a man (male). Combined it could mean weretiger. Normally you would read it as "toraotoko" but if you read it like a Japanese name it sounds: Nobumi. Hence the origin.
The tiger himself is European with high interest in Japanese culture. He is skilled in Japanese sword fight a.k.a. Kendo. He has been intensively training this art as well as his body and mind since he was 16.
