I can't deal with it anymore. If you guys aren't going to comment on much of anything I'm simply not going to post here anymore. It's too disappointing to either work hard on something and see nothing but favorites not even comparable to the amount of watchers I have or ask you guys a question and not be answered by more than two people. Without watcher participation I feel no reason to truly post or write journals. I might as well be talking to or showing art to myself.
To all of you that do comment and reply I'm sorry. I'll still be posting stuff on Weasyl which I'm sure eventually will be open to the masses and general art is visible to those without accounts anyway.
THIS IS NOT an I'm leaving FA message. I'll still be here watching and doing other stuff on the site. I will still be contactable through the site through notes and comments. This is simply say I'm no longer going to post artwork if I feel no one cares enough to truly comment or look at it especially when you guys don't even seem to care enough to answer when I ask you what you would like to see save for a few people.
Edit:
Because I don't have time to reply to everyone who thinks that I need attention"
This is not for attention. I've been battling with this for months mentally. I don't improve by just getting faves. I don't get to see what others would like to see when I ask them and they don't reply. I know where my art stands and what I'm happy with. I would like to know what others want to see what they enjoy seeing. Feedback does not necessarily mean adoring attention. I don't need a million comments. One well worded critiquing comment would mean so much more to me than a lot of faves ever will. So Simply put I don't need the mental stress of posting things to see what others think when I won't find out either way like I do posting elsewhere or showing to people outside of FA. I could care less if no one reads this at this point. So say what you will but I'm simply going to seek improvement and help elsewhere.
Edit 2: Look guys. I'm just going to take a break okay. It may be a long one or a short one. As it stands I am not in the state it takes to deal with the stress of posting. Posting for me is something I have a lot of mental stress over when it comes to this place. Just let me get rid of that stress the way I know how. If that means me not posting for a long time then let me not post for a long time.

Not every one always has time to post or comment, some people just don't know what to say. You should not stop posting simply because not many comment. I don't get a lot of comments either. But if you only draw to get others to say how good you are, you will never get better because we all start at the bottom and work up.
Not everyone can post a thought out comment in one minute though... It's easy to post a 10 second "Cool"/"Nice"/"Murr"-comment, about as easy as it is to click +fav, but no artist I've run into likes receiving those kinds of comments. For me it takes a lot longer than one minute to post even a single sentence that barely scrapes the surface of all the thoughts that an art piece has inspired, because I don't want to waste someone's time with obvious, stale and soulless flattery.
As for taking a break from posting... Go ahead. Nobody has the right to demand someone to post personal art if they don't feel like it. Luckily I can still follow it all on Weasyl.

This is purely for attention seeking. Im sorry. You don't post things like this unless you want attention. No not every one has time to post. And if an artist only makes art to get "oh god your such a good artist." You suck as an artist. Because you should be doing art because you like it, not because you want attention.
What a troll, lol. You don't really get the situation. XD It's not an issue of wanting praise. It's an issue of asking people things and getting nothing at all back. I've seen it happen to her multiple times despite the fact that she has a small number of friends who award her with some sort of comment so her pics aren't devoid of them. :|
So believe me, it's not about 'attention', it's about feedback, which has been non-existent lately.

No, no. Everyone has time to post. You could just simply say about the details, the scenario, the colors etc of the picture. Anything like "Awesome" or "Cute art" doesn't count. Are you an artist? Probably. But what Vampire was asking for was a little appreciation for the artwork she uploads. And I am sure as hell everyone has 5-10mins everyday to make a comment. It's not the end of the world ya know.
i saw this on the front page and im sorry to say, i dont mean to bash or flame but...
this just seems like a moment for attention =/ people who like your art will reply and not everyone always feels like 'O hey let me comment fav, rate and touchmyself over this' (in a matter of speaking)
If you get a fav, good. Dont get a comment, suck it up and just stay happy

Sometimes it's nice to have your work's positives put into words, and it's not like it takes much effort for that. When you post dozens of pictures and get only a few comments on each from the same people, it starts to eat at you. :< Favs are fun but comments speak from the heart.

You still get more comments then most. im sorry even with your edits to the above post...you really do seem like your just seeking attention when you already have more the most get. posts like this get under my skin because it seems now like your a poor sport and only draw to get attention. If you a true artist, you draw because you enjoy drawing and love to draw, not to just get comments. Comments dont help you improve either btw. They are just comments, they don't help your hand draw better or improve your skills.
Hey, uhm, you can't expect swarms of watchers active to your disposal. It takes not only effort, but time. You can work hard on a piece, work hours or even days, but you can't expect much from it. It's pretty shallow to care for popularity, but if you are looking for actual feedback, all you can really do is just stay an active member. Commenting, and fave spamming people is a way to start. It helps ignite recognition.
But you have to see it like this, threatening to not post anymore because of no comments or such ... Is that really mature? Think of the real world, who really will care if you do or don't post? This isn't an insult, but there are multiple artists of all sorts on this site. It is hard to be recognized when you're, and myself, are nothing but a mere 1 in comparison to the thousands. You can't give up, if anything.
This wasn't meant to be any insult or "flame", because I don't know who you are and you don't know me. But I hope this helps prevent you in acting such way.

Mmm. Been talking to her outside of FA, and a lot of the problem is when she even asks specifically for things from those who watch and even still no one says a thing. "What would you like to see me draw" and 0 comments. That's despite getting okay numbers of views and favorites and having an okay number of watchers.
I think fav spamming is a little cheap since it devalues favorites. But I do suppose leaving comments on other images (those of the medium-to-low talent range, or those slightly better) can gain friends who will comment.
So, no, she's not going after popularity. Just some feedback. Some sign that people are out there and like her work beyond said 'fav spamming'. :| I'd like to see her continue to post here, personally, but I can understand her stress.

Still, again, she's one of many artists here. Not all watchers can just stop by and leave a comment, even if it seems sad that no one comments. It's just how it is.
Leaving images like this will only either provoke pity comments, or make her seem like an attention-seeker.
As mentioned, this is not to be an insult. It's just how it is. I don't know her, so my say so can only go as far as generally speaking.

*Nod* Yeah, I understand. It's a bit harsh but as the description says, she's tried being nice about getting feedback; the result is silence. Frustration ensues. I am glad that most of the people posting here are being civil and overall supportive, though. In fact, it shows that an image with a message is better at communicating a message than a journal or description is. That's gotta say something, right? :D
Yes, I agree. Again, none of this was meant to be taken negatively. I am sure I sound quite uninviting, but I personally believe that an artist should draw for them self, not for others (unless requested, or commissioned, of course). It says more, speaks louder, and shines bright by doing so!
Actually a good percentage of my work is personal artwork and most of the others that include other people's characters are friends minus the few sporadic commissions. The lack of feedback either constructive or actually saying what they like about image other than the generic "Nice" pushes me back to the place I was before I began posting which in turn makes me extremely unmotivated to do art of any kind because I put a lot of myself into personal artwork. I have pushed myself past a personal barrier of not sharing with anyone except close family and irl friends to share with others which causes me, at this time, more stress than it's worth. As it stands this may simply mean just taking a break from posting here until I can push myself to do it again. I do appreciate you being civil though.
Well, you're not the only one victim to this.
But don't let such little bothers cause you emotional distress. It's hard at first, yes, but all you can do is ignore it. I scarcely get anything relative to constructive criticism or well-thought, but hey, it happens. Who am I to try and impress others? We're all strangers here on the net, and we make friends, yes. Maybe you're wanting to try something new, and don't know where to go without feedback? I can understand.
But just ignore it, I don't know who you are, but for anyone to be distressed over it, it's not good either way. Your artwork is for YOU.

And fave spamming doesn't devalue favorites, I am not saying to favorite every single piece. But if she shows interests in other artists similar to hers, then it'll grab more attention. It's give and take, and it's not always fair, but the effort in the end should be endless to give greater results.
Posts like this though...are a popularity cry. Im sorry but I wont sugar coat it. The artist even stated most of these works are personal. She gets WAY more comments then I do on my art and posts like this just piss me off because they are EXTREAMLY ungrateful for the people that get little to NO attention. "Oh baww im going to stop drawing because no one comments" really.....really? Facepalm*
I feel like if people do comment and fav, the most you'll get is a 'This is cool' or 'Nice art' or something nonconstructive like that and well that's just as bad as a fav and no comment. At least you know people like your art enough to fav and take the time to look at it.
I understand you completely. It happens but don't get yourself down. People just sometimes dont know what to say or
have time to comment. I know I dont comment much because I'm watching over 700 people and I have about 1300 myself.
I have simply just too many messages to comment on every thing but the least I can do is fav. Look at my submissions,
number of watches and comments on my submissions. I hardly get anything and I've been here only a little bit longer than you.
Its just how it is sometimes. Dont get down about it though just feel good that someone is watching and liking your art. It is n art site after
all. If you want people to talk to and such go to a forum.

I think your art has been steadily improving. To be totally honest the only reason I stopped writing comments on peoples pictures is because almost no artist ever responds or shows that they even care. I just started to think if they can't take the time to respond or at least something why should I bother -_- Its not like I am a person who critiques art or anything like that. I always leave nice respectful comments cause I honestly love all forms of artwork.
I have enjoyed your artwork since I first discovered it many months ago and to this day that footpaw icon you did for me is still one of my favorite pieces of art ^_^

Totally agree with you *Hugs* Takes a lot to post something like you did here and there will be a few people bashing you but don't let it effect you thats just the way of life. Just know that your artwork honestly is beautiful and its honestly awesome getting to see each new work you put out along with how your coloring has been coming along. Some times a good break from the stress and drama is whats needed. Remember to always do what makes you most happy not others ^_^
you're interesting...and not in the bad way either :3
i will say moving to a different site where you'll post won't change much because the followers you have here will follow you wherever you go. so in essence wherever you post your art you're going to get a select few who'll answer your questions. i can't say i'll be one of the select few but seeing as how you're fed up with watchers not being active. I'd suggest you take your art to other accomplished artists and ask for their opinion. showing it to those with less skill than you, they're bound to simply say "i love it." or "i like how you did this." A more accomplished artist can tell you where you're off, where you need improvement, and where you're good at. Not all of us can tell you that.

I'll likely just be taking a break from posting here. Weasyl is something I've been slowly posting to since it opened but never intended to leave this place at all. So posting there causes less stress because right now I don't have a lot of watchers and it doesn't feel so impersonal even without comments. I'm not forcing myself to push past a personal barrier I have of sharing anything with others I don't know irl or have known for a very long time over there which causes less stress. I need to destress so it's for the best at this point in time.
ah, well in that case, i'm sorry for life being stressful on you but i guess we all have our own personal struggles in life we have to fight our way out of. I hope the best for you :3
also, i'm aware of Weasyl. it looks like a cross between furaffinity and deviantart in my opinion. Looks more put together as well. So, i might move there whenever they open up to the mass public. maybe not...since i have da and fa already. dunno...but anyways
enjoy your time away from the social networking communities. I'm sure you'll feel tons better :D

Your first mistake was thinking other users give constructive criticism towards artists, which for me I found out long ago doesn't really happen.
And if your starting off line myself what responses you do get from this community, well you'd be far better off not even asking.
Sites like Furaffinty are for more show and less about improving your skills, well that and making money.
I'd recommend doing something else to calm yourself down and look at the comments posted on other people's artwork. In time I think you see my point.
Final note, this community is chock full of unappreciated artists, so you can see for myself that has made things really depressing for me.

I would say faves are a large indicator of what people want to see. I see something I like or makes me feel emotionally I fave it or post short comments. If you stop posting here I won'tbe able to enjoy your art. I have no intention of joining weasly ever I'm really only active here.
I understand how you feel. Take a break for a while. Make something so great, no one can stand not commenting! c: (not that your art isn't already amazing. x3) I know I haven't commented, So I probably sound like a hypocrite x.x But I guess I assumed that your art was so good, that you'd get tons of comments, so you wouldn't notice mine. I love your art, and I'm looking forward to seeing something from you again. Come back with a kick. ^u^
I'm quite sad to see this :c I just became a watcher of your recently. If it means anything I really do love your art.
I stopped drawing for a very long time because I drew for people instead of myself and I was as frustrated at you are now. Just recently I've found my passion again and now I draw for myself. ^^ This makes it so that I am actively trying to improve my own drawings for something that is always going to be there: myself.
But do what you gotta do =] No one's going to stop you. I wish you the best of luck. Maybe the passion of drawing will come back, and won't need backup from other people.

I tried leaving input on another persons art once and the person went emo on me to the point I avoided fa for months, you do great work, if your seeking input it may not hurt to put it in the description that you are, but beware trolls as they may the advantage of it. As a fellow artist input is not always something people seek so it may not be offered till asked for. I do hope you keep posting I like a lot of what you do
