Take a deep breath, hold it.

Mentally, count backwards from ten and think the word "Relax" between each count (Ten, relax, nine, relax...)

Usually by the time I get to 7 or 6 they're gone x:

OMG YES. I completely hear you. I get these torso shaking ones that make me sound like a frog, and nobody can help but to laugh and it's like.. AAARRGGGGHHHH i'm trying to draw/sew/etc here. T-T In fact.. because I tend to get them when I get 'excitable'/worked up about something, i had a former coworker that would yank my chain just so I'd get the hiccups and she could laugh.x.x

PS - water and all that never helped a damned bit.. Best luck I ever had was to just focus on breathing slowly and deliberately a few times. Kinda like the "count thing" but not quite so hardlined.

I try a method that if you hold your breath and try swallowing while holding it it goes away. Only worked once for me though when I had minor ones. Never works on the ones that hurt when I breath and hurts my chest.

Anticipate the next hiccup. Works for me, and I usually only have maybe one more slip through when I do it. Try it next time.

Seems to work well enough. Since I started using it, I've never had much trouble with hiccups.

Yeah I get those too, really hate it when I am at work and it happens. Can't talk with out lettin out a loud hic.

Random fact: Hiccups are a left over panic mechanism from when we were water breathers. It's our body saying we're not breathing through the gills we no longer have.

Take a few deep breaths and swallow at the top and bottom of each breath; helps if you have something to drink.
