I finally feel like I can start showing off a bit of my modeling work. I have NOT been dead, I have simply been studying my ass off and actively learning the 3D pipeline in order to make a real living and a life for myself. It has literally taken almost all of my time for almost two years now, which is why I haven't posted much.
Anyway, I'll be back, don't worry! In the meantime, enjoy this progress pic of Acorn the deer.

That's awesome! I enjoyed animation a lot. Had a couple of really good teachers for that.
This is done with a mix of Zbrush and Maya. All together, what you see there is just over 8000 polys. All the muscle detail came from the Zbrush sculpt and applied with normal maps.

Nice! Lookin good so far. Be sure to lower the glossiness of him a bit. He should have a softer shine to him. Aside from that looks really good! Nice muscle detail. Going with normal maps to apply the muscle makes me think you're leaning toward video games? Also, looks like you did a very nice job on the unwarp for him. I don't see any seams for his texture anywhere.
Does he have a moveable jaw? It looks like he might, but it's hard to tell right now.
Also, yeah, it takes a long time to get all the stuff down for 3D. The modeling programs just have so much to them. They let you create, skin, rig, unwrap, animate, and even do some physics stuff too! There's a lot to learn hehe. Glad to see you're putting in the effort though. It really shows!
Nice work! Keep it up, hope to see more soon. ^^

Thanks for the comment! I know he's a bit too shiny right now, they're just simple Blinn shaders. We're going much more into detail on texturing next term, which is when I'll be enhancing this boys texturing a lot. Right now it's just very basic color maps, and the normals.
Yes, I'm learning video game modeling. That's my focus. :) this is after about a year and a half of intense training and classes, and I'm looking forward to learning much much more! In addition to getting work, hehe.
He'll eventually have a movable mouth. He's got teeth and a tongue, bu I'll rig him up later. I want t be able to pose him!
