I think they should just replace her broken hearing aid for a new one while she slept, if they are letting her run matriarch and having this many issues would think it be worth the investment.

That and once she CAN hear right again comes all the embarrassing correct she'll find out afterwards...whether or not they toss it in her face. I got my own hearing problems but much less embarrassing to just ask people to repeat themselves than to assume the weird things I hear are always correct.
