Camping was down in the South-Western corner of the state; with rolling hills and old growth forest; thinning out to scrub and tundra near the coast. But in this tiny little pocket near the coast are a series of razorback, roving sand dunes; at Yeagerup. About eight kilometres off the main highway on a dirt road and then a further two kilometres down a four wheel drive track; this is what you see when coming around a corner; the dunes slowly engulfing the foliage and road. It's pretty amazing to see; the walk itself is pleasant, with trees around you and a lake nearby, then as you get close you suddenly realise that the horizon isn't the horizon itself; it's a sand dune about thirty metres high, on about a sixty degree inclination. Hard work to climb, but worthwhile when up there. Makes me wonder if out in the centre of the dunes, there's dead trees from decades ago. Very surreal place. (for reference, the height of the dunes is approximately three or four times the height of the trees in the foreground.)
