Nah, they're not really psionic. It's just the face tentacles.

The tentacles are only 1d4+1... and sure they get to use all four of them in a full attack and sure it's at +8, but that's not enough for the basic ones to be CR8... It's all in the psionics. They get Mind Blast and 100ft telepathy, too! =D

I'd be inclined to do what someone with face tentacles said until I was 100ft away from them. As for the telepathy part of it, uh... maybe they can just whisper. Really far. And clearly. Yeah... yeah, that's the ticket!
