You did a really nice job with Spitz!
One of these days, I'll have to show you my pony fanfic, which mostly deals with Rainbow Dash's day at the Wonderbolts facility. At least in my headcanon, Spitz didn't start as head of the Wonderbolts; she had an old mentor and close friend called Skybuck. He eventually hung up his wings, retired to teaching the young hotshots that joined the team, and handed the reins over to Spitfire.
