Food is better than magic
As I mentioned before Mahal most characteristic power is his growing ability: Mahal can grow to almost any size with ease. He also has the ability to further manipulate this power by deciding at will to increase only his muscle mass or only his fat mass.
Anyway Mahal has also a great sense of honor and fair play so since he has become Gurume new student he decided that he won't use his powers for growing big enough to learn the Blue Mountain fighting style but instead he has asked to Gurume to help him to gan weight normally.
And there is also the fact that in end Mahal is quite a big glutton like Gurume! :-D
As he would say: "It is much more pleasant growing big by stuffing yourself with deliciosly huge amounts of food instead of tiring yourself by growing with magic and your belly empty!"
And now Mahal is quite enjoying his belly stuffing under the tutoring of the Blue Mountain himself!
