At last, the first Lizard Queen Chronicles comic page is here! And it only took me four months! I really need to figure out how to work faster. One thing that really slowed me down was that I decided to ink the lines digitally using my tablet. I won't be doing that again. The ability to erase and re-do any line that's just a little bit off is my worst enemy. I'm too much of a perfectionist.

Also, I agonized for so long about the designs of the palace and the throne room. I owe some credit here to jodimest, who answered my request for help in this area. Based on his advice, I did rethink the way I drew the interiors. I sort of winged it on the palace exterior, but I think it turned out pretty damn cool. :)

Finally, I deliberated endlessly over how I was going to color this. Not just the color scheme I would use, but also what I would do in terms of lighting, shadows, and textures. I think I found a coloring style that works, but I can probably refine it or find another one that works better. I don't like to use any kind of "canned" textures, because I feel like I'm cheating. So I whipped up a few of my own, which look decent. And now that I have those, they should help me get the next few pages done much more quickly.
