Just a little drawing of an often-underappreciated representative of mousey adorableness. I did the actual doodle probably in 2002 or somewhere around that and while I was looking through my old art, thought I'd rescan it and give it a splash o' color.
How can you NOT want to tickle those little feet!? ^__^

Hmm. Or not. He had to think with that brain, but I guess it was past it's warrenty anyways.

wince- He just -had- to ask me that.
Once flash-headache later
---
Yasha crawled along the path. Her tail knocked a drop of dew off a blade of grass. The grass barely touched her as she advanced fearlessly (thoughtlessly) on the two birds. Small birds didn't scare her. Mice were scared of everything by nature, but these little brown birds weren't much larger then herself.
They were trying to break up an apple. Yashsa could go for an apple.
She was dirty and wet from escaping Fivel's not-so-close notice. A few steps into the long grass and she was free. Yasha could find her way back, all she had to do was turn around and follow her own tracks.
She picked up a shred of apple. It was mush held together by the hard red skin. She sat and began chewing on it. The two nice birdies were looking at her. She waved hi.
"Little mouse?" One of the birds asked. She was a girl. Yasha thought the specks of white apple on her beak were silly.
"Let her get her own apple." The other bird was a boy, and more interested in pecking at the apple with his short beak.
"I'm Yasha!"
"I'm Feather! Go away or Beak will peck you!"
"Awww! I don't wanna get pecked! I want apple!"
"Beak!"
Beak pointed his head skywards and swallowed down some more apple.
"And what does that mean?" he tried to coax.
"But -mouse-!" Feather complained. "Egg eater!" she chirped.
"She'll just have to fill up on apple." Beak flicked a piece of apple towards Yasha.
"I'm Beak," he said. "and this is my sister Feather."
"Yes, let's share our apple with her and play with her!"
Feather finally caught on.
Yasha plunked herself down on the flattened grass.
Feather strutted up to Yasha. The little pink wearing mouse was eating swiftly, her front teeth breaking apart the apple like Feather couldn't.
Feather's light brown speckling would stand out against it.
"Silly little mouse can play with us." Feather stood over Yasha, almost pressing against her.
Feather's wing made Yasha laugh. It was tickling her.
---
"Yaaasha!"
Fivel was calling her.
"That's Fivel! Sorry I couldn't reach the leaf!"
"That's alright, Yasha. It looks like Feather was wrong. We have to go now and look for more apples."
The two birds flapped and took to the air. She watched them go. Yasha'd had fun trying to get the leaf out from under Feather's wings, even if she was too small to reach it. Feather had the piece of leaf pretty far inside her where it was stuck in a tight spot.
Beak was flying with a large chunk of apple in his bird feet. Feather wasn't flying very well. Yasha wished she could fly like that.
The grass rustled as Fivel stepped out.
Fivel slapped his hand to his forehead, almost knocking his cap off.
"Oh for- (heavy sigh.) I can't take my eyes off you ever, can I?"
Fivel looked at his little sister. Dirty clothing, smashed apple, tramped grass. He tried to wipe some of the apple off of Yasha's hands but gave up. He picked up Yasha with effort.
"And you've wet yourself. What did I do to get a sister sent down to me? Come, on, I'm going to have to give you a bath."
Yasha leaned towards Fivel's ear.
"Teach me to fly!" she cheered.
Fivel winced. "They don't make cliffs tall enough." he grumbled.

Very cute! Awww... She had an entire episode to herself?! Darn, I only have a fraction of the series on ugh, VHS tape. Plus I do remember there was this Oliver Twist series too with all the characters were animals. I do hope I could have her character in my Feivel series in the future.
Thanks! It may take awhile, and it will be based on Tony and Feivel and thankfully not Cat R Wauls Hunger series. As for the Adventures of Oliver Twist this was made during the early/mid 1990s on FoxKids or (was it NBC?) Not to be confused with Disney's Oliver and Co. In the series Oliver was a beagle, Artful Dodger was a rabbit; Fagin was a fox; and Nancy was a cat. Its hard to find info on this animated series because Charles Dicken's classic is so broad in searches.
I'd love to see you draw her in any situation! You are awesome at drawing all kinds of mice. Ever heard of Once Upon A Forest? The main character, a woodmouse named Abigail, is _adorable_!!!
I'll see if I can find any info on Oliver. If I get any good links, I'll forward them. (I loved Oliver & Company!)

I finally remembered the full title. It had Saban's Adventures of Oliver Twist. Saban is noted for bringing the PowerRangers to the US, and is a musican for much of the 80s cartoons.

I think another interesting thing about the series is that Fagin the fox is a good man, very different form the classic story as a theif master. He does not teach any of the orphans to steal, is an inventor (I think), give the orphans a home and also teaches them in his private school to be citizens of society. I forgot how strange that they co-exist with humans. Most of human characters are just in the background, while the main characters are all anthro's. Probable choice of the animators that "lower class" are animals while rest of society are just "faceless" humans. I wish I could remember more on why this was.
Anyways, sorry to make this into a Oliver Twist fan search when its all Yasha's pic. Shame it is a lost TV animated series like Fievel's Tails not yet available on DVD and such. I like Oliver on how is drawn with just a tuff of red hair and sporting a vintage blue hat... almost like Feivel's.
