Romeo and Juliet STILL isn't a cartoon. It's a novel based off of Pyramus and Thisbe or Athur Golbing's translation.
In actuality, the names of the character's are just combined together and used as a reference... BUT the story vava told isn't really about the tragedy of love, but someone willing to go through a lot to be with another. Both Romeo and Juliet defied their parents to be with one another. Tomiet is asleep and Jerio is awake, plus either are restricted from each other from family, morals or whatever (sleeping doesn't count) so it doesn't follow the names in it's entirety.
Like I said, vava REFREENCE Romeo and Juliet, but it's not a cartoon. Thus, it does not count when vava asked how many cartoon references. Though, I give props for noticing that as I completely skipped over it.

though there is 'roadside romeo' that was a cartoon origionaly
and when they say it wasn't a cartoon vava they mean it wasn't 'originally' hell there are cartoon versions of just about every old play, my fave is the animated animal version of Charles dickens David Copperfield that aired i think back in the mid ninties...some bits of it can be found ou youtube, the songs from it especially....im fond of 'I'll be your hero' and 'imagination' [or something will turn up...not sure which its real name]

Considering that your reference to the names is the only thing in the story... It doesn't actually work trying to compare it to "cartoon references."
The names are from a play by Shakespeare. One would assume if you were to reference the names, they would be from the play not a cartoon. Every reference you did was recognizable because of the description and hint that's given. A name reference doesn't imply it's from the anime/cartoon version. While you could say the same about the play, you're more likely to have people not notice the Romeo and Juliet one since you specifically asked for "cartoon references."
My point is, that using the names and combining them with "cartoon reference" is misleading. Even if someone actually knows about a cartoon version, I doubt it got a much publicity as did the play itself. I'm not saying that if it's famous it can be used. I'm saying that the names in general reference the play and nothing else.

The only reference to Romeo and Juliet is the name. That alone isn't enough to make it "a cartoon reference," since it's based on a play.
The point of a reference is it's usually recognizable. Romeo and Juliet is recognized as a PLAY, not a cartoon. While Alice In Wonderland was based off a book of the same name and similar story.. That's the only thing that makes it different from the book version. The cartoon is vastly different from the book. The reference to Alice in Wonderland is recognizable because of the rabbit with the clock. Saying Romeo and Juliet's names does not validate a "cartoon reference." Especially since that's not the FIRST thing that comes to mind if you heard the names.

Self-righteous? It has nothing to do with that. I'm question, "Does this make sense to me?"
Not everyone is gonna get the fact there was a Romeo and Juliet cartoon. Heck, the fact there's also an anime isn't something widely known either. Calling me self-righteous just means you don't agree with what I'm saying. You don't seem very open minded about the context of the subject.
Am I suppose to, off the bat, get the reference that Romeo and Juliet was also a cartoon when it's all based off a play? No, because in the context of the subject, vava's could have hinted at Disney cartoons since every single one IS a Disney reference.
The Three Musketeers wasn't originally a cartoon either, but since she asks for "Cartoon references" it's safe to assume she's talking about the Disney version (I think there actually is another.. but not the point). Romeo and Juliet isn't commonly associate with cartoons because the story is all a play. All adaptations start from the original and the original wasn't a cartoon.
My point is, I wouldn't have voiced my opinion if I didn't think something was off.

Some of my explanation above and it's not unreasonable to believe that, considering every reference in the story was Disney based. The cartoon variations were not Disney based either. So that's obscured.
The fact of the matter is, the names are based off the characters from a play. You're more likely to associate them with the play than a cartoon. While, vava using the names in the story were not bad. I don't think she quite understood how misleading it is.
