Cam shaft? Huh. Unusual part to go poof.

The high pressure fuel pump ring wore out that the cam touches causing it to rub the cam ring digging it up

Ahhhh. Hopefully it's under warranty! Or that'll be spendy to fix.

I hope so to but it had a ecu flash but I don't see it causing this issue

Dude, you don't need anything else to go wrong ... this sux, just when you were getting out on your own and things were looking up... I also hope it's covered under warranty ... that will be plenty of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to fix if it's not... I got my paws crossed for you bud. SB.

Everything was covered, I owe nothing to fix THIS problem, but there are others that I would need to pay but they are not such a major issue.. thanks for your support

2.0t FSI Engine? I'm guessing from before 2009?

That engine had a cam follower issue which causes the EXACT issue you described. There was never an official TSA bulletin on it but it was an issue for FSI motors before 2009, especially if you got an ECU upgrade. I had a brand new 08 GTI that had this issue, after it fucked the cam follower 2 times I just gave up and traded it in.

This issue was one of the reasons VW moved to the new TSI engines by the way.
