yes but its not clear how long she was pregnant inbetween, as far as we know from the last book, she could have been a week or two away from giving birth. we dont know how long ago she became pregnant, or how the rules of anthropomorphic pregnancy is, does it follow human rules of 9 months or only a few weeks like animals, but even still, the time was very vague
Well hopefully the coming pages will answer some questions for you
Remember, the book is paced to be read by someone in one sitting. The fact that it comes out once a week online is incidental. Bringing up questions in the readers' minds, and then answering them in a later scene, is part of the plan.
That being said, the time skip is meant to be vague. Exactly how much time has passed is addressed *somewhat* later on, but I'd rather the story tell that than have to state it outright to the readers. The fact that Dhaval is clearly settling into his life at the brothel is one story indication that a decent amount of time has passed. There'll be more to come.

well as much as the waiting is a pain and so little is learned each page, have no choice i guess. i still dont like the idea that he accepts his life in anyway. maybe its just me but thats how a character can lose a relation to the audience, cant speak for everyone but i myself would have a hell of a time growing accustomed to that life, and having some of the focus of the first book be focused on his arrival and his fear is kinda pointless if he's now fully capable of doing everything Amon does and no resistant to it,
id like to point out, im not hating on the story, this is just my perspective on whats happening so far. again the later pages could disprove all of that, but what im seeing right now is veery questionable. what i loved about Dhval was he was one of the main ones the audience had relate to and follow because he was the one that had to have things explained to him, and hope he would escape or try methods the same way you would.. sure Amon and Luther are characters you gotta follow too, but they are more developed, you can already see the history they have. again this is your story and its great.. i just really dont wanna lose that character relation with dhval
this is just my speculation.

You're only getting this from one page though. Maybe he's still not totally okay with it but it's not like he can avoid it. Right now he's probably more worried about the screaming Esha then he is with himself. Just saying, it may be better to wait then assume right off the bat he's okay with everything.
as i have stated, its speculation, a picture is worth a thousand and one words, i know dhval can be selfless, he showed this with her breifly in the last book, but the way he casually talks right here about his client, leaving our not, is fairly comfortable, and he doesnt look hesitant like before, again, later pages could say otherwise and disprove, im not assuming, im explaining what i see so far.
because she doesn't. take a look at page 7 http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4848479
On a business stand-point-of-view, she would be no use for a few weeks at least and the child would be a burden to try to get rid of, so the child could stay with the mother at least to start. What I see possibly happening is that once the mother is able to return to work, the child will only hinder the mother and not bring in her share of the income so the child would be taken away and given to someone else. But that's on the business side, if someone has a heart.......
Rukis, in her journal http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3538969/ titled "Ask <insert character here> anything " responded when I asked a question about this very thing. Here's the answer I got:
"Manjusha - Esha's little bastard may stay with her for so long as she is able to afford the care for it. Her debt will not be transferred to them unless she chooses to do so. . . it is *her* debt."

Since Amon flipped out on Dhaval about the poppies prior to this we can assume that they know of the negative effects the plant can bring. I agree that Esha would likely object to using any drugs (since she seems the caring mother type). Pretty much most if not all available drugs in this era would have had some nasty side effects regardless and we can assume cloroform isn't around yet or available for use (it was used for birthing at times, Queen Victoria used it when she gave birth).
You can't use narcotics on a pregnant woman: opioids cross the placental barrier and will rapidly OD the baby - respiratory depression and death. ...not to mention opium is a potent vasodilator which puts the mother at tremendous risk for bleeding to death afterwards.
Not everyone uses epidurals. It depends on where you live and your culture. Some use a mild pain med, though they would still feel it some. More than that, I don't think they would be willing to shell out the money on expensive medicine when they have a huge debt if not absolutely necessarily even if it is an option for them at all, which might not be considering their status.
Everyone else can have Dhaval... My heart has always been for Amon from the start! No one else in the story has been through or done as much for others as him. And I'll expect his hard times are only getting started.
Might I also add Amon is looking fantastic in this so far!

Wow...the maturity and the level of understanding Dhaval has is astonishing. He's really grown into it, I wonder if Amon had continued to help him get used to it since the first time at the end of the first book. Amon's health though is concerning, I hope he's doing alright, he doesn't look too well in the panels.
Also, are the slave collars indeed going to be sold again soon? Very eager to buy one, missed my chance last time.

Wow... I'm five months along with my second child, and I still remember too clearly what labor was like. Wasn't me screaming though, it was another woman a couple doors over that kept me up most of the night. Thanks to her, I spent most of the night thinking it would be a lot worse then it was.
Still, ow! I feel sorry for Esha, looks like she's having a rough time of it!

I love this page since it features the most lovely characters in the story in my humble opinion
Just have few questions if you find the time to answer them of course :3
1) I notice Dhaval talking about his client without any remorse in his face, is this due to his acceptance of this new life, or is just because he's more worried about Esha than himself atm?
2) In the world of Red Lantern, how does pregnancy works? I mean Esha being a Tiger can only be pregnant by another feline, or it doesn't matters and the cub can be of any race? Judging by the very realistic drawing I'd say you stick to real nature rules, however I always wondered your thoughts about this.
3) Obviously this is part of the story to come, but doesn't Esha will be in trouble for running clients away because of her screaming?
Finally, and this is just my perception, it seems to me that Amon and Isolde have a real deep friendship disregarding her angry/bitter behavior towards him.
Are you planning to have some Dhaval in the Menagerie? Just saying... ;3

I'm also wondering the same thing about Esha's child. I'd assume it would be only another feline (probably tiger), but even so, how many other Bengal tiger customers come to the Divine and choose Esha for her "services"? Or like you asked, is species irrelevant and the cub could be either a tiger or whatever the father is?
Dhaval is more settled into his life now, but he's also very distracted by what's happening to Esha in this scene. There are future scenes in which how he feels about his life in the brothel ARE touched upon, later on. At the moment, though, he is not the focus of the scene.
Pregnancy only works within species that can naturally breed with one another. Canines with canines, big cats that are capable of breeding with other big cats, etc.
Esha can hardly be blamed for screaming in labor :P
And yes, Isolde and Amon are very close, despite Isolde's nasty temperament. This is touched upon later. A lot.

First thing about "Dhaval is fine with his situation":
Dhaval's client doesn't have to be that kind of client.
It could have been a simple massage client, and no "full service" client.
Second thing "Amon and Isolde are more friendly":
Isolde was pissed at Amon because he couldn't dance long enough.
She was loosing coin and had to service clients to make up.
Maybe Dhaval is her new Dance partner, so she didn't have to give bodily service anymore.

I am sooo glad that I'm not a pregnant woman right now. Giving birth must suck. Still, you have a baby to show for it at the end......
But wait..... what's going to happen to the baby? (I mean, normally wouldn't she be forced to take a potion to get rid of it? It IS a brothel, after all. Is the possible father noble or in need of an heir or something?

I know a ton of folks have already brought this up but it would be REALLY helpfull to put a 'Such and such time later' even in the top corner because time is a huge relevant thing. Is Dhavals growth just a super quick thing or did it take time? How long was the tiger actually pregnant for...all of these things would be pretty easily answered by a simple time stamp.
a time stamp seems a bit. . . cheesy, to me
I'd rather keep the time skip kind of vague, if that's alright. A lot of questions about how Dhaval has developed are answered in coming pages, and the time passed since the last book is also addressed (albeit vaguely). I'd rather the story tell it to the readers than have it just blatantly pasted on, somewhere
