This is a combination of things, and the current incarnation of a vessel design I first penned some years back, as well as experimenting with dynamic prospective, and also moving from single page sketching, to multi-layer refinement... but enough of why this should be in scraps. I already see some details that I am not happy with at all.

This little monster belongs in the universe I've been concocting. this vessel is The Yucenta which is a largely the center of the primary story.

the Setum Seta (the crying dwarf roughly translated), is a corvette class vessel having a crew of only 25. the ship itself was designed during a period of intense conflict. The Dwarf was created to employ massive capital class weapons on a small, maneuverable vessel that would operate using hit and run tactics. the primary armaments consisted of 2 heavy mass accelerators and 2 medium mass accelerators arrayed along the beam of the vessel. the spine of the ship was designed to absorb the kinetic shock of the main battery and channel it back into the primary engines. secondary armaments consisted of interceptor missile batteries for close in defense, and a forward cutting wedge that could be used to ram other vessels as a measure of last resort. a critical element of the ships design was that is was one of the smallest vessels in the fleet that could traverse interstellar distances without the aid of a mother ship, giving it freedom where ever it operated. the common tactic employed was to deposit a wolf pack of 3 or 4 dwarfs in a system, and leave them the orders as basic as 'destroy anything that is a legitimate military target."

the retracting armor cowling houses the ships main secret to traversing interstellar space, a secret that its makers took to their grave when they were forced into extinction by fearful allies. some day I'll put the story on paper... or at least publish the universe, once its lined up into a proper timeline.
