I'm fixing up an extremis armour drawing and attempted to redraw the body underneath to fix proportions and this happened
Also I always liked the word Stark (ever since reading the Dark Half I guess), it's one of those Germanic words you Englishfolk just use in a related but quite different way. Whenever a writer chooses to name a character this you know they mean business.
back to fixing the other drawing I go
edit: updated after rendering some and colouring some (textures get a bit funny after you free transform them a lot in photoshop). I don't know if I find Tony sexy, he also reminds me of my dad.
He looks like a complete psychopath in this, and I suppose that's fitting... after he got his real super powers it took him a while to figure out being human again.

I love so many things about each one- they're just different enough to pick out each one's unique qualities. Like the one on the right, the way his eyes seem to be focussed down and to the right. The other, he appears to be looking up and to the left, and his face seems longer.
Arrrgh these are so awesome T_T
I totally love how into Iron Man you are.

I liked left, I think I killed something in it while rendering so I posted both.
Armour, science fiction, cyborgs, the man/machine dilemma, cybernetic interfacing are easily my top 5 favourite topics so I don't know what the fuck took me so long to discover this series. Pretty sure the creators love a good helping of Ghost In The Shell and Metroid by the way.

Saving this to my 'art refs' folder. I'm sure I could glean some insight into form and coloring from this..
Also, do you color everything on the same layer? I'm always so afraid of ruining something that I try to split things across layers, but *then* need to painstakingly erase lines from over-coloring..

If you need further notes, I think the way I think about faces is based on Andrew Loomis' books a lot. I also did a lot of portrait studies from life last year which really helps.
Uuuuh, yes and no. The background is its own layer, but it's a plain colour. Then I keep the whole thing on one layer, add layers if I'm unsure of changes, and merge them later so it doesn't get too much. Because you are absolutely right, too many layers absolutely end up costing extra time despite seeming to help you to begin with.
