It looked very nice in my mind... But looks like I wasn't in the mood anymore when I laid it on paper, so it has been done hastily, just to remind me how cool it should have looked like.
It should have been very gory, Lion-O's sword of Omen cutting in two an evil foe with much blood and internal organs flying in the air - yes, looks like I've got an especially violent vision of the Thundercats for some reasons...

Stunning, amazing, deadly! I like violence, and thats how violence is made! Just throw in a big brutal half-naked barbarian with a sword no ordinary man can wear!
But some gory stuff would have been nice though, it is always someones hobby to sit and count them instines flyin´ around!
"Oh! The stomache, and wow, there goes the kidney!"

LOOOL That's indeed how I represent myself the Thundercats. They showed power in the show, but never actually really used it, though they have to struggle to survive in that new world. Struggle hard. Without mercy. And have lots of sex after to cool down from all those horrors ;P
Good question !! Well, I quite liked the show, but I liked many others much more... Maybe the subject was different, there hasn't been much "human-animalized" stuff, as the rest was more "humanized animals" (Robin Hood, Heathcliff, almost all what you can think about about anthro shows), and because of this it looked more "adult" to me (though there was still this saint "politically correct baseground : no blood, morale at the end, the good always win and so on...). Plus, as a male, I of course always loved big swords and sorcery stuff, not to mention Panthro and his mechanical skills (though the mechanics always looked very old-fashioned to me compared to what japanese were doing already at that moment, just look at Gall Force and Bubble Gum Crisis, even Macross and Dunbine that were far older were better designed). Also, at that time I was still a huge animefan, big amateur of catgirls, this couldn't fall better, but it had also that american way of designing feline people that was different and very appealing - mmmmmh, I SO loved Cheetarah....................
But I guess that's now that I look back at those golden years that I'm especially turned on by the characteristics of this show, as I liked it back then but not THAT much. And, for me, the opening is simply the BEST one EVER done in animated series history - and every time I look at it it reinforces my feelings : over-the-top animation and character design (contrary to the rather poor quality of the serie itself done by the americans -yet average compared to the other series at that time-, the opening has been done by the japanese and it seemed much money has been spent in it), excellent timing with the music, very entertaining song/music, incredibly rythmed and dynamic action, excellent presentation of the characters and their powers, first the good guys then the bad guys... I still look at it from times to times and I tell you, even now, it's far better than most of the actual show openings despite all the progresses accomplished since then.
Oh, yes, I remember now... The recent miniseries comics probably are also the very reason why I came back to those characters. Being in the format comics, it allowed a little more "adult" themes and graphic descriptions -it was clearly done by fans for fans, all of them having grown up and wanting more from their old beloved show-, that probably made echo to my own burrowed desires !!

Of course it is !! ^^ Just look at all the mini-comics that went out a few years ago, and the live film project... Even if it didn't have an enormous success for the first, and will perhaps have no final realisation for the second, it just prooves many people still got the show in their heart...
