You know what I use when I'm stuck on a texture? Oddly enough, magazine ads. Most of them feature a lot of stuff like crinolin, and denim and gingham, so it's easy to look at and figure how it wraps around a figure.
Trade secret that's cheaper than buying a bunch of books. Just get a 4 dollar magazine, and there ya go.
