I could not resist adding Mac Tonight in this pic because oh god look at his giant moon head aaaaaa
You know, I bet Mac Tonight would be a big hit if McDonalds brought him out today. These days all the established brands are making purposely weird, unsettling commercials, like, to be edgy and hipsterish...so we get things like THE BURGER KING and THOSE CRAZY SKITTLES COMMERCIALS. Mac Tonight would fit right in with these oddities. A lot of people had negative reactions to him in the 80s, but I think maybe he was just ahead of his time.
Also, when I was a kid, my dad tried to explain the pun in his name but he mixed up "Mac the Knife" with "Vlad the Impaler," so he said that Mac Tonight was based on a guy who lent money to people but when they couldn't pay him back, he would stake them up in the front yard of his castle.

As far as Mac goes, they tried to bring him back in 2007 in horrible CGI. And he went from sounding like a cool cat jazzy lounge singer to Australian. :I I think if it were a live-action commercial like the original it would be a lot better, but I prefer him a memory of the 80's. He just wouldn't be the same if they brought him back.
They'd have to make a new costume because I own the original. >:3

And yes. @u@ I own the shiny black suit, dress shirt and gloves worn by Doug Jones in the original commercial and promotional images. McDonald's auctioned off a lot of their screen-used costumes and props in the 80's and someone bought the Mac suit. They later gave it to their son, who later offered it to me! I wish I owned the head too, but it's in Bob Burn's Monster Museum. I do have hookups to the guy who created the original Mac head and he still has the molds. One day I want to bug him about pulling a cast from it. xD;;

The CGI Mac isn't as bad as I thought he would be, though that Australian accent is kind of baffling.
I feel like you need to plan some sort of Oceans 11 heist on that Monster Museum!
