Although adding wings would be nice to give it some authenticity, I usually make winged characters wingless for two reasons:
1) They're difficult to manage and draw at times, providing loads of frustration to deal with (especially so in comics)
2) They block the backside completely, preventing the shots and perspectives from someone's back and therefor, wastes space even more by obstructing things.

Mostly it comes down to how you're supposed to draw wings on a character without having them be in front of anything, which is why I find it more helpful to just leave the wings undrawn. That and I do like to have characters be at their natural poses, which means that wings wouldn't have some bizarre pose going on either, so...
But we'll see what I'll come up with when the next time I have to create a wingless being.
