After Burner II - Final Take Off (90's Sunsoft Style)
Once again, I've covered music from a Sega game that was officially released on the NES!
While Sega struggled to establish itself in the console industry before we had Sonic the Hedgehog, a select number of their arcade titles where released on non-Sega platforms such as various home computers and consoles such as the Atari 2600, Intelevision, and Colecovision as well. So it was a surprise when the arcade classic made it to the NES.
Unfortunately, there where actually two different versions released; one by Tengen (Atari) when was unlicensed, and a second by Sunsoft that was a japan exclusive. The two ports where nearly identical except for sound. Tengen did not use the DPCM channel while Sunsoft did and included several voice clips from the arcade game. However, this was also before Sunsoft developed the "DPCM for base instead of drums" sound that they'd become known for in games like Batman: Return on the Joker and Journey to Silius.
This cover is an attempt in replicating that style in music as opposed to what the official version used.

I think it has more to do with poetry not being something taught in most schools. That, and things like hip-hop have taken the place poetry used to fill-not that I'm complaining. I like hip-hop, and rap is part of the reason I got into poetry when I was a kid, too. I grew up in the 80's, and my cousin was a DJ who played a lot of rap music so I was surrounded by that stuff back then.
