Wow, this is certainly rather a fine piece of equine armour. I wonder if it was actually used in battle, or just ceremonial?

Most likely. Not much point wasting time filigree-ing a piece of armour if it's just going to end up with arrow dents and sword scars in it.

I'd guess sometime around the 1400s to the mid-1500s

That might be late European 16th century, I'm not sure..... Very nice bit of metalwork and etching.... I was interested in trying to make armour myself, and have done some sheet metal work, but then the masks got in the way !
