The clunking of wooden swords battling echoed throughout the stone courtyard deep within the underground castle.
"Focus, Farkiin, I've almost pinned you several times now!" Chided his mentor, Narin.
"Ha! Keyword there is Almost, Narin!" laughed Farkiin confidently, using careful strikes to back his mentor several steps back toward his seat.
"Farkiin!" A different voice startled him though, and eagerly he whirled around, forgetting all about his lesson.
"Isaac! You're back!?" he cried, grinning broadly.
Outside the ring of waist-high hedges surrounding the courtyard, Isaac chuckled. "Yes, I'm back. And you'd better watch yours!" He laughed again as Narin jabbed his wooden sword lightly against Farkiin's neck, and a startled Farkiin dropped his sword.
"Aw, puckerfish!" Farkiin kicked a loose rock and frowned.
"Never turn your back on an opponent- even in practice. Practice becomes habit someday, and if you did that in a real fight.... well you'd probably be dead now." called Isaac. "If you're going to join me on my missions some day, don't you think you need to be a proper, well trained swordsman? I can't have a child following me around now can I." He arched a curious brow but couldn't hide the grin that split his usually stern expression.
Farkiin's face instantly lit up. "You'll let me travel with you?" he asked excitedly.
Isaac laughed. "Only once you can defend yourself. You and Aryla are to accompany me on missions- once you both complete training and prove yourselves to The Council that is."
Eagerly, Farkiin snatched his sword off the ground again. "I'll do my best, Isaac!"
Isaac nodded once. "I know you will. See you later." then he turned and headed off through the building.

Just a character from a comic I'm working on.... after I've gotten a few pages done I'm thinking of posting them on here too- seeing as Isaac is a werewolf. So, yeah....
