Whatever happened to Marc Schirmeister? I remember his illustrations in Asimov's Magazine, back in the 1970s, and his comics work in the early '90s; but I have seen nothing since then. Is he still drawing? I hope so: he had an instantly recognizable style.

He's done cartooning (similar to the ones posted here) for a few of the science fiction fanzines and for a werewolf/transformation fanzine. He has been working for animation studios in Southern California.

Schirm says he has been concentrating on animation since 1990 and it's only been in the last 10 years that he has been doing fanzine art, and he hopes to get online and display more.

I'd put him on my watchlist! :D

Getting Schirm on-line has been tried before...

I brought him an entire computer one of my last visits to California. It only needed a case & power supply (trivial purchases), a keyboard (also cheap), and a monitor (not cheap, but how could I carry one in my luggage after all?). It was basically a collection of boards and cards and software, but still 80% the cost of building a system. Everything had been checked before packing and verified as working.

It sat in a cardboard box under his bed for years. Eventually he said some friends of his said it didn't work. I dunno... maybe sitting under his bed for years, slowly oxydizing, collecting dust, or being pushed around had something to do with it? Either way, it didn't seem he treated the issue very urgently.
