Heehee. I remember Nelly the Dragon, because I watched her back in 96, loved the character design of female blue dragon and taped her in 97. I was so luck to watch Quack Pack every day just to stumble onto her for I can tape her, and kept the tape for over 8 years, until I lost the tape.
when I joined Deviant art in 2004, a few months later in 2005 I made the first picture of Nelly the Dragon http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2874728/ in Deviantart. Surprised that some did not know who she was, or what she was, and was only able to get a few screenshots from a web site called SNAPPY, which I doubt now exist now, but thanks to youtube and Toon Disney. Now everyone can know who this character was.
Here are more of my Nelly the Dragon pictures. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3831336/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4390678/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6161874/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3886494/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3672001/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3520772/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3672045/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3817505/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3798958/
They are old now, but I really haves to start drawing her again.

I don’t know if I can agree that she’s necessarily materialistic. And it’s not the greater the gift the greater the loyalty, from what I saw.
Nelly told Daisy that Gaylord was the first person she encountered to not want to slay her. Gaylord would then proceed to give her gifts as his way of gaining her favor. I don’t really think this is materialistic though, because the gift giving was essentially the first exposure of what she perceives as giving goodness since every other experience with another being was due to the other person wanting to slay her.
So if anything, I think she’s more of a naive dragon that may, at one point, due to how people mostly mistreated her except for the person that would give her gifts, decided to place her loyalty in someone that provided her things. Because that was her only exposure to being gifted or provided a form of kindness. It’s kinda like if one’s life is miserable, and then someone did an act that made the person happy, the person then proceeds to value that thing and maybe even do it for others, because it made them feel good.
