Topic: Shurian Female Maturity; Sibling / Maternal Transition.
After walking in to see Zaryn in Drayks room the other night I felt compelled to compile my thoughts and excitement on how the Female & Male bond is growing between Zaryn and her then siblings, to what I consider now to be her children. When the power went out the other night Zaryn asked me where we kept the lightbulbs and disappeared upstairs. I was curious, and later found Zaryn up in Drayks room keeping him company since Drayk didn't know how to react to his first power outage. She stayed with him even after he had fallen asleep and continued to read the Dictionary we got together from the local bookstore. Amusingly though it's not her first one. She told me she didn't want to miss any words which was adorable but this shows clearly the level of education drive these females seem to have.
( Special Notation ) I'm still unsure how she is conducting enough current to run a lightbulb from mere physical contact. I assume it's merely a side benefit she learned of in regards to their externalized neural connectivity, which the females seem to produce that allows them such a mysterious link towards the males in their species and others.
It's only be a couple of months since they all hit their 3 year birthday mark. Amazingly these past couple weeks it's been exciting seeing Zaryn's behaviors change so drastically. The past couple years she's shown a natural equalalized bond between her and her two shurian brothers Drayk and Janarr. However these past couple weeks she's shown some extreme maternal orientated changes in behavior towards the two.
I find it no coincidence in timing that this change in behavior happened to occur after she reached what I believe to be biological maturity for females in her species. Although chronologically she's the same age as her two siblings. The test results from her bloodwork and scans show that she's reached biological maturity.
Since that point she's been showing a more parental disposition towards Drayk and Janarr, and the two have recipricated this change in behavior without issue, as if it was completely expected. Embracing this behavior I've taken a seat back to let Zaryn branch out and take on more duties that deal with directly mothering the two biologically immature shurians. It's been encouraging as the results match the stories I learned from their birthmother back on P21. Even though the environments are vastly different, the fundamentalls of their culture seem unaffected.
